Gary Neville has named Manchester City’s David Silva as the best player in the Premier League.

The Manchester United legend, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has named the Spanish midfielder as the best player in the country.

Neville is a passionate United fan but since becoming a pundit, his analysis and views on the game have caught the attention of the fans as he has always been a neutral.

While talking at a Football Beyond Borders event, he said:

“The best player in the Premier League is David Silva…He’s wearing the wrong colour shirt but it’s him!”

Silva has missed recent games for City and his manager Manuel Pellegrini has underlined his importance.

“David is a very important player, the same as Kun [Sergio Agüero],” Pellegrini said.

“David has a different way of playing.

“But as I said one of the merits of the squad was to play so many games without so many players. I hope both of them can recover their great performance [of earlier this season].”
